This topic will be used to formulate the catagories each specific Pokemon falls in, which then will be used to determine their place among the PokeDex. If I forget a Pokemon or put in the wrong bit of info, correct me as soon as possible. I would like this to converge to the near final product. ooo, that must've taken a long time to do. I have one thing to suggest, but it's not about the pokedex. I just think Mamfrosth's name could go well without the 's', good for pronouciation too.

The glove pokemon's name is Glowve and the pumpkin is called Gourdsem. Stegorant's pre-evo is called Stegrose. And you forgot the 2 lapras evo's if we're still gonna use those, since I'm not shure about that... Anyway they're called Atlantras, and Watras

The Pokedex is going to be a confusing thing. We will have 501 Pokemon right? And I was thinking of making it like the GSC Pokedex, all jumbled up, but with the option of changing to the "national" order. So in that case we will have to organize them twice. What is was thinking for the Jumbled World Pokedex is:
New Starters Pokemon you encounter early (such as Spinarak, Weedle, Caterpie, etc.) Various Pokemon (including old starters...didn't like that they were way at the end with the legendaries) Counterparts Eevee and Draconid lines Fossils One of a kind (Snorlax, Lapras, Yetchill, etc.) Legendaries
Now, because I didn't want to erase this idea, I will tell the idea I just had while typing this. Maybe more of a regional-based Pokedex, that groups by region. To use a past example:
A game with Hoenn and Kanto in it. First comes the Hoenn Pokemon (excluding legendaries), and then the Kanto Pokemon. At the end include all legendaries.
That would probably be more logical because what if you could encounter Wurmple in Hohpo, and Spinarak and Ledyba in Johto? When you are in Hohpo, you will have a patchy Pokedex because you won't have seen Spinarak or the other Johto Pokemon.
Of course, synonymous with that would be making locations for the Pokemon. We will need to get to work on that, but it will be fun, I think. And I will explain the Kanto and Hoenn Pokemon while we are on that topic. There are three safari zones, one in each region, and some select more rare Kanto and Hoenn Pokemon will be placed in there.
Those darn Islands are so fun that I want to add a region of islands too. But I won't, at least not yet. Maybe that will be saved for an updated version of the game in another year or something.

Before a jumbled Dex, we need the National Dex in completion, which is what this topic was aiming for. Let's just consider what you were saying Shadolf, but minus the past Pokemon for now. The order would go something like: Starters Weak Pokemon Various Stone Pokemon Various Fossil Pokemon Various Unique Pokemon Legendary Pokemon After we create the National Dex, THEN it would be wise to start plugging different Kanto/Johto/Hoenn Pokemon. Otherwise, it just gets all screwy and stuff, and we don't want that. And the Regional sounds fine. It could be a different mode to switch to on the PokeDex, like the A-Z Mode or Unown Dex of GSC.

I think there should be some Kanto/Johto/Hoen pokemon in the two new regions. Things like rattata, pidgey, catapie, zizagoon etc. are everywhere.

Of course. Our Pokemon alone aren't enough to fill up 3 large Lands, so we'll be dipping into the Older Pokemon lot to fill up spaces.

Shadolf I have a suggestion: if you 're gonna add some island, maybe those could be the Orange islands? I think it would be quite funny with a tropical climate and such... But at the other hand it's also fun of creating new areas... And the pokedex on the site needs to be updated too actually.. I don't know if you do the pokedex uploads, or someone else does it...

Another Version later in the year? Heck why not add all of Kanto (FR) and Hoenn in the later updates! And the new land that was said to be released later this year..(Source: Turquoise Labs)

Well I was avoiding Hoenn and Kanto since they were being used in Ruby, Sapphire, Fire Red, and Leaf Green. So I decided to put Johto in. The islands will probably be south of Taion though. But I don't want to discuss them any further. I would like to get the first version done before I go on to a second version.

And the pokedex on the site needs to be updated too actually.. I don't know if you do the pokedex uploads, or someone else does it... I do them. Well, sort of. I gave the password and account out in one of the boards in the Admin section. It's open for anyone who wishes to update it, because I'm unreliable. (Trust me, I am. I'll do anything I want to do when I want to do, and when I need to do something I wouldn't even be bothered to move.)

My hope, with this thread and the many Pokemon Datat threads being posted, is that we can sort of rebuild the Poke Dex from the ground up. The one we have now is just full of all kinds of errors and empty information catatgories.

And a question for all. Should we implement different aspects of the R/S and FR/LG Pokedexes in the game?

And a question for all. Should we implement different aspects of the R/S and FR/LG Pokedexes in the game? Well I have an idea but I don't know if it's possible, and it's not realy a new option, but I always touht it would be neat if you could use your pokedex at the beginning of the battle, so that you can check out some info about the enemy...

Well it's a good idea but the only problem with that would be that until you catch the Pokemon, you have no info on it.
And personally, I like the FR/LG dex (even though I don't understand it much), but the areas looked weird. I think the area page in R/S would be better to put in rather than the FR/LG one.

Here's my two cents:
Petital -> Purroot -> No name (Garss starters) No name => Beetorn (Bugs) Pikkok-> Heroncholy (Birds) Chunemone -> Jelysquish (Jellyfish) Fezu -> Flamarlin (Fire fish) Heno -> Psymond (Blue dudes) Gatorock -> No name (Fossil gators)

Bad news. I lost the Pokemon locations I did. I only did Taion, and I ended up with almost all 386 in that region, so it wasn't that good anyway. I want to space them out evenly among the three regions.
I think we should make it another joint effort.

Okay, I suppose you should make a topic in the mods forum. Even though I haven't really contibuted to the joint efforts... i work best alone...

for the pokedex u should do this, once u find a pokemon, the dex comes up like in the show and tells u the quick info on it, or wuteva, and then u try to capture it, and then if u find htat same monster again, then it dont do it , only the first time u see it. idk , it would be kinda kool like that

This is for Pokedex order, not for Pokedex format. And please, speak in REAL English and not Internet-English!!!

Its not totaly off topic its about the pokedex, it was an idea i had for the pokedex. Dont see why you get mad. Just listen to ideas. You dont gotta complain because they are in the wrong section.
