50 Cent is trash music. I don't like this "gangsta rap" fad that's gonna fade in another two years. The beats are just sampled orchestra and drums, the words are monotone and their rhymes are more often than not absolutely terrible. Not to mention the obsession with demeaning women, mindless violence and the glorification of drug lords. I couldn't agree with you more about that. Most rap is not worth the time it takes and the money given to the people who put it out. This trend also seems to follow with most popular music. A lot of it just has a catchy, re-used chord progression (i.e. Nickelback) and crappy lyrics. House of Leaves (Bonus track from Juturna) - Circa Survive

Yeah, most modern music completely lacks musical theory. Doesn't mean I won't find it catchy and download it though.
Haven't opened WMP yet, but "Closing Time" by Semisonic has been stuck in my head since the last hour of work.

Did someone delete one of my posts? I'd like an explanation if that's the case. I was only stating my opinion and didn't say anything particularly offensive.

It was something wrong with my computer. After browsing some other sites, parts of pages weren't loading. It's fine now. Sorry about that.

Two of the most talented bands of our generation. You're severely missing out if you only listen to the popular stuff. You should look around a little, and you'll discover a whole bunch of wonderful musicians.

iTunes and internet radio are your friends.
I'm listening to Jambalaya Jam, the cajun/zydeco station. Lots of old bluesy stuff.

That's your cue to expose yourself to new things! There are tonnes of sites for you to choose from to find great music. Ever heard of MySpace? I shun its use as a social utility, but for finding music, it's a wonderful tool. When you have internet access, there's no excuse for not being at least a bit familiar with the music of the generation. myspace.com/musemyspace.com/themarsvoltaBrowse around if you don't like that stuff, too. Don't just settle for popular music. I guarantee that you'll find something much better that no one else knows about. Oh, and if you do settle for pop, only listen to John Mayer. The rest is mediocrity at its best Smile Like You Mean It - The Killers
