Where are the locations and info?
In Shadolf's brain.
Where is Shadolf's brain?
Wherever Shadolf is, probably
Where is Shadolf?
None remain who know...
Anyway, silly references aside, we're running out of mappable things. So rather than making it up as we go along, we may as well make it up first.
Map!
MAPLEWOOD TOWN and PORT
Prof Willow's lab, you arrive at the port at the start of the game.
ROUTE 56
Short and sweet, a stroll over to the next town to get a package from the cartographer.
HILLSIDE TOWN
The residents have been surprised by a meteorite splat! They're clustered around the crater, blocking the path to the next route. They talk about surprises and tourism, apart from the cartographer. Anyway, you ask the Cart for the something to deliver to Willow.
ROUTE 56/MAPLEWOOD TOWN
Back there, Willow unwraps the latest Taion map card, designed for the Navigear, one of which she gives to you and your rival. After that, you can save and have a dex and stuff.
HILLSIDE AGAIN
The crater remains, but it's old news. The cartographer asks after Willow. The townspeople decided to give the meteorite to the cartographer. You can carry on!
ROUTE 57
NOTE: this is the old 57 and 58 combined
There's an old lady in a house halfway down who tells you about the wonders of berries. She's related to the girl who runs the greenhouse in Edgegrove. In her garden, you can pick some low-level stuff, like the one that gives you back some health. SHe gives you a BERYY BAG for this very purpose.
EDGEGROVE CITY
Here is your first gym, fighting Flora for the Verdure Badge. She's scary. There is also a flower shop and greenhouse, where after beating Flora you get a pail to water berries. You can also plant berries here for them to grow double-speed, but the space is limited.
PEACHBLOSSOM WOODS
The first dungeon. A few Cut trees dotted around. Also, it's darker and there is some pollen in the air. on the other side is:
ROUTE 58
Here, in a grove of treestumps, is the CUT House, where the lumberjack lives. Will you take a letter to his son, who's living in Rosefield now? Of course you will! When you return with his son's reply, he's so happy that he gives you HM01 CUT.
ROSEFIELD CITY
Lots of flowers dotted around. There's a museum, apparently, so this can be a very upmarket sort of place, like Lilycove in RSE. You fight Cobalt (which means BLUE, fercryinoutloud) for a badge. He's Ground type. WTF. I say we make him Water, for the plants.
Museum: Darkdog's story. It's a museum dedicated to the explorer(not exploder ) who found Taion, Sir Frederick Taion. There's shattered glass on the floor; the caretaker tells you a spooky story. Some thugs tried to steal Sir Fred's armour (in the case) and it came to life and chased them away! The guy asks if you believe him or not. If you do, you get something, dunno what though. If you go in at night (it would usually be closed, but there's a CUTable back entrance like in Pewter) you meet a GHOST, that you can't see without the scope thingy. It looks sort of like an old dude, and it says something like "Leave... leave me..." But it's really a Gengar.
ROUTE 59 / SHALE CAVE
Cuddles has the Shale Cave story, which is the beginning of the Teams Shadow and Apollo, and Albinos plot.
There's also a maze of stand-on-able land in some marshland on this route; the Montemore gym leader (you won't know this at the time) is standing at the edge. He asks you to help him get his Natu back, it ran off into the marsh and won't come back. There's a chase thing like in Ilex Forest in GSC, eventually you corner, fight and defeat it, and it runs back to the leader. Then you can battle him in:
MONTEMORE CITY
If you skip the leader in the swamp, the gym is closed. A notice on the door, and a trainer who works there, tell you so. Afterwards it's business as usual.
The city is a large one, sort of like Goldenrod.
The city is in a celebratory mood, because they just finished the railway between here and Zumitis! Hurrah! The Lakeview route is still under construction. Anyway, once you beat the leader, teh station will have a grand opening ceremony. Since you beat the leader (Mengde, psychic) he gets you on to the train's first run. You can now go to Zumitis if you wish, but half the town is locked until you get Surf, because of the town's nature, and also there will be badge restrictions. Maybe it'd be best locked till you get Dive or something.
Also, BuffyBoy mentioned an Apollo grunt holding someone hostage, in the same sort of thing as the Natu hunt. We'll see.
I'm kind of losing count with the routes, since putting 57 and 58 together, but you can go wither North with 60 or East with 79.
ROUTE 60
This takes you north to Sunset Oasis. There will be a train line, under construction, or just not working. This route slowly becomes more desert-like.
ROUTE 76
You can see some train line here too, this is the working one to Zumitis. You can't get very far, there's a Waterfall-requiring bit (well, there is now), but you can get to the Breeding Centre, where they will give you a mystery egg, because they totally take their jobs seriously man.
SUNSET OASIS
Cute little desert town. You can't proceed ahead because of the sandstorm; maybe some sort of item? Nah.
There's a mini dungeon here, something to do with desert endurance. Think Sprout Tower. If you complete it, they give you the go-goggles and you can be off.
The gym leader is Matt (I think his name needs changing) who specialises in weather stuff. MATT? Goddammit, his name can be Teorll, as in meteorlogical.
There's someone tlking about a useless item in the town, once you beat Teorll they'll give you HM Surf, which is useless for the desert.
NOTE: if you go back to Montemore, they've had trouble with the train to Zumitis, so no skipping the plot for you. Unless we decide you need a different HM to see Zumitis.
ROUTE 61/DESERT
It's a desert. There are some trainers, there are plenty of Cacturn and Trapinch. Some archeologists scattered around; if you found Dig you can dig underground and find caves. Or something.
There's some Apollo storyline too, and a fossil.
DARK CAVERNS
Before you go in, there's a pokémon centre, or at least something healy.
You need Flash here. There's the short route, where you just get from the desert to the seaside, and the long route, where you meet Brock and get Strength.
Also, as events, new bits of cave might open up, leading who-knows where?
ROUTE 62: THE SEA!
Just your standard sea route, with fishermen and swimmers. You keep going north, to:
POSEIDON TOWN
Now relocated slightly west at that crossroads! You can't go right because there are some whirlpools in the way, why not. You can go north to the North Cave, which is frozen shut, or west to Towerblock City (via Smokey Mountain).
The people here live on the water like Pacifidlog. Instead of one guy looking for Mirage Island like RSE, we have an entire town devoted to finding the Mirage Archipelago, which sort of leads down from the northern land mass, but only when special events are triggered, or something. There's more than one island, and each has something unique about it that I will invent later on.
ROUTE 65 leads up to North Cave, and will have the Mirage Archipelago on.
ROUTE 63
Boring sea route, might add some fun stuff later on. If it's windy, maybe ash from the smoky mountain volcano can fly past.
ROUTE 64
This is sort of an L shape, and brings us back to the orignal route numbering. This is on land, and half leads north to smoky mountain, and half west to Towerblock.
SMOKY MOUNTAIN
The mountain has been taken over by the Hiker Gang, who want to make sure only Hikers are allowed on it. You defeat them one by one, till you get to the leader at the top, by the lava, like the RSE volcano thing. When you defeat him, he'll give you Rock Smash. Using Rock Smash, you can get inside a blocked cave, into the volcano, and there you'll find the Lava Fisherman. You can battle him if you want, but he'll give you the Lava Rod, which lets you fish into lava, really it does. Anyway, the Hikers all turn nice and act as guides on the mountain from now on.
TOWERBLOCK CITY
BIIIG city. The first contest hall is here; you can get the pokéblock holder and contest pass if you want. Buffyboy mentions a medium, who I will leave out for now. With Rock Smash, you can unblock the entrance to the Lonely/Deserted Tower, the first tower of Towerblock. Dunno what's in there though. ANyway, it was built too far West for Towerblock to go around it, so it's out of town a little, on Route 66.
There is also the tower gym, where you fight Penn and Luna. Once that's done, you still can't go East past Poseidon, so you set off south.
ROUTE 67
Another sea route, leading to the Maplewood port. Nothing special here really.
MAPLEWOOD PORT/TOWN
It's about time you visited everyone anyway. Your mom will give you some decorations she ordered off the internet, being too lazy to go to Towerblock. They're in your room, but later you can put them in your base. It'll be a doll of your starter, and a poster of some sort.
The important part though is Prof Willow. She'll give you the latest product that was sent for her to examine from afar, either the Silph or the Devon Scope. Also, to see how well you have progressed in your training, she will battle you! WOMG!
This will be quite a tough battle, but when you beat her Willow will be impressed. So impressed, in fact, that she'll give you the HM Whirlpool. Oh, what fun.
Assuming you got Fly (still haven't worked out where this is going) you can fly to Poseidon and go east, or just walk and surf.
ROUTE 68
Normal old sea route. At the end is some deep water for some reason. North, 3/4 along, is route 69, and south is route 70
ROUTE 69
Route north to North Tower. Honest.
ROUTE 70
Route south to the beach.
ROUTE 71
Route south on land to Lakeview. There's a railway from Lakeview that disappears underground somewhere, it's under construction until the player visits Hohpo. Thie route shold be getting increasingly rocky.
PALMTREE CITY Note: Name change
A large city with the Crystal Lake all down the East side. You can't get across the lake just yet - Gobblub mating season. Unfortunately it's always Gobblub mating season, they go at it like rabbits.
Lakeview is home to the Taion interregional Railway, which you can't use yet. Once you beat the leader (Skye, flying) you can use the train go get to Montemore, wow. The line to Zumitis from here (underground) doesn't work yet though, neither does the north line to Hohpo.
The city itself should be quite mediterranean, tropical. Palm trees, white houses.
According to BB the second concert hall is here, and the Groomer Bros. He also mentions something about instructions.
CRYSTAL LAKE
Can't get across yet. When you can, you can dive and see the tube the train will go in the tube to Zumitis. Cool huh? Also, there's a temple here which will be unlocked by a Hohpo event.
ROUTE 72
Leading west from Lakeview, to Elder town. It should be quite a rocky route.
ELDER TOWN
A town full of old people! Yay! They will impart valuable wisdom (well I don't know, HM uses? *shrug*).
There's also FLY from here, hurrah! BUT, you can't fly to Zumitis. Hah, no loopholes.
ROUTE 73
Leading south to Crystal City. There's a power plant here, and a temple unlockable by Hohpo event. Fact, the power plant might just be the temple. Also, you hear a conversation by Team Shadow here, who you follow to Westbay town. Something to do with Zack.
CRYSTAL CITY
Crystally! 7th gym. BB says, Medium's house and herb shop, like Goldenrod I guess. The gym leader is Fern, with the Love badge.
The interesting thing about this city is that it's on a river. So that'll be fun for mappers to map, we might need custom tiles. It's diagonal top right to bottom left.
ROUTE 74
This leads west, to the safari zone.
ROUTE 75
This is south, to Westbay. Exciting.
WESTBAY TOWN
This is the 3rd contest hall, AND you fight Team Apollo here. Also living here is the Taion Berry Master. If you surf left or whatever, you'll arrive on the route with the breeding centre, which is now 76. There was a waterfall in the river, so you can surf on the river and fall down the waterfall if you wish. There's anotehr waterfall leading from elsewhere here, probably from the Safari Zone, which you can't get up till you have Waterfall. Items at the top of both.
ROUTE 77
This goes east from Crystal, across to Oceanend City. Nothing much here.
OCEANEND CITY
This is another seaside town, but more like Slateport this time. Here you'll get the Super Rod, and fight the leader (Manny, Wind?). There's also the game corner. You can go north, south or east from here.
ROUTE 78 (south)
This is a sea route, out to the Underwater Cave. Can't get there till you get Dive.
However, a certain staff member's house is on a nice little island out in the sea on this route. Also, if you dive here, you might find another underwater tube, the train line from Montemore to Zumitis.
ROUTE 79 (east)
over land route, nothing here.
ROUTE 80
At the end of 79, this goes south to Starlight town, which is in a deep, deep canyon. See Starlight for relevant daylight stuff.
STARLIGHT TOWN
Starlight is in a very deep, narrow canyon, so daylight only penetrates for an hour in the middle of the day. Full daylight will only last from 12 to 1, morning from 11 to 12, evening from 1 to 3. If we have a separate early morning (as in, still twilight) time, that will last longer than the current morning.
Because of this, the residents have adopted a nocturnal lifestyle. You won't find anyone around in the daylight hours.
Anyway, in this town there is the old, haunted church, the 4th contest hall, and an elder's house. What he or she tells you, I don't know.
ROUTE 81
This goes north from the end of 79, and leads to shadow falls. There's water running from the falls on this route.
SHADOW FALLS
BB says you get Dive when you enter, and you look for a switch or something. You find a Silver Wing, apparently. Anyway, Apollo are here too.
UNDERWATER CAVE
Once you have Dive you can get into here. Inside, there are waterfalls leading to an underground-underwater lake, haha. You have to ride the currents and down the waterfalls to get to the lake, where you'll find a lost diver, you give him an escape rope to save him. In return, he'll give you HM Waterfall. Using this, you can get up some Waterfalls and find hidden items.
ROUTE 82
This goes north from Oceanend, to Palmtree city. Somewhere on this route is the hidden grove, where you can water some rare berries and talk to the Lost Woodsman. Here, you'll learn the secret of the Children of Albinos, if we leave this in the game.
LAKEVIEW CITYNote: Name change
9th gym, Charlie, Fire. The city is on the side of the big mountain me and Matt just added. This town should be very traditional Japanese, like cherry trees and stuff. The town guards the entrance to the mountain's belly, and only opens when you get Charlie's badge.
You talk to the mayor, and get the key for the abandoned mansion. A few ghost and fire types, maybe. Anyway, in the bedroom there's a diary. This is to do with the Albinos thing. There is also HM 9, Heat Wave.
CRYSTAL LAKE
From someone in Palmtree, you'll get the Soporific Powder, which makes all the Gobblub to lazy to push you out of the lake like they were before. So now the lake is open for use!
ROUTE 83 / MOUNTAIN BELLY
This dungeon starts off Fire and slowly turns to Ice. Should be difficult but fun. Also, look out for other dual-nature pokémon, especially Girafarig.
ICEFIELD CITY
Icy, snowy. All the time. Something to do with wind and rain shadows I guess. Anyway, it's a sea town.
Here you fight the last gym leader, Legato. Ice types. There is storyline with Legato about her father and a shipwreck, gripping stuff that I'll leave for when you play the game.
You can go north, south or east.
SECRET CAVES
No idea what's here, it's south of Icefield.
ROUTE 84
This is a sea route, out to *drumroll* Zumitis! Finally you can unlock all the secrets of this strange, half-venetian, half submerged city.
ZUMITIS
Now me and Matt only recently changed Alto Mare to Zumitis, and added fun stuff, so:
Half of the city is Venetian, with canals for streets. This is where the older people live, and complain about the noise from the other half. This is the original city. Also, this is where you first visited on the train, which is now working again.
The other half of the city is submerged in a bubble on the ocean floor. Now you can get here, more fun stuff will happen, but it'll be fleshed out later on. There will definitely be a huge department store.
The train to Johto is also here, but it's still under construction. It won't be working for a good long time, either.
ROUTE 85
This is the route north from Icefield. It leads to the Mystery Forest.
MYSTERY FOREST
Well, it's a mystery. What did you expect? It's all icy. Not very many bug=types but plenty of grass and grass/ice types.
MYSTERY LAKE
It's within mystery forest. Mostly frozen.
ROUTE 86
Leading west from the forest, it leads to the research centre. What they're researching, I don't know. Could be the observatory - there might be story about Reirei's meteor (if, indeed, we're leaving that in).
ROUTE 87
This leads east, a short route, to Victory road, from the forest.
SILVERBLADE TOWN
An actual town, yes, with the Taion League HQ in it, complete with elite 4 and champion. This is after victory road, which will be a standard dungeon.
And that's it. If anyone can think of anything good, please reply.
In Shadolf's brain.
Where is Shadolf's brain?
Wherever Shadolf is, probably
Where is Shadolf?
