Well apparently I'm missed so much that I require molestation from matt on AIM so I'm back or something.
So karr's gone huh, somehow I'm not fully believing this but whatever.
Alright, so what's the deal here, who all is active or cares about this game right now? Matt's the only one I really talk to right now, people wanting more updates posted up?

Since Matt's on mute mode today, I'll just monologue rant away. First of all, I've become a Linkin Park fan as of yesterday, their stuff fuggin rocks. Thus; Anyway.. where was I.. right, the straight dope on PO. A word from our own webmaster. Now, the main situation. As you all probably aren't aware, running a MMORPG costs money. A lot, especially when you're buying servers to run the system on, paying for bandwidth and maintenance, and hiring on other people to help out with the entire process. DC's working mainly right now on websites to generate revenue to run the entire bloody system more than actual game coding right now, so know that the work we're diong right now is not directly involved in the game production. I'm on hold for spriting for a while because of life calls. Got myself a new job prospect starting September which will be good for my career, not so for online graphics though. August I'll probably be out of the city on vacation somewhere, so that's another month chipped away of my time. Chill out folks, remember the first moral we broadcasted in the making of this game; the public wasn't supposed to know at all of its existance until it launched. You're falling into the category of impatient fans ragging on the production team to finish the game. If Nintendo announced D/P when they released R/S, there'd be a lot of annoyed fans, trust me. ~DS

Money problems? Well, if there's a paypal account, we'll set one up on the Sponsor us page to come soon. We'll wait patiently, but we may make an early, non-online BETa in RPG Maker eventually.

Well, we are impatient. Of course we want to finish the game soon, but what does it matter if the public knows us? Alright, Nintendo could shut us down, but I really don't think they will. We have no link to PO anyways.
I actually thought the PO engine would never get finished. I still don't know if it will, but you gave me a little hope again. Also, is the game going to be linux compatible? I really want to be able to play this in linux.
Of course I'm aware that running a MMORPG costs money, a lot of money. Especially if you're buying the servers (do we really need more than one?). I thought we were just going to rent one dedicated server to start. That would "only" cost us €50 a month, but if you're actually going to buy the servers...
We're not to much into collecting money right now. I've searched for sponsors awhile, but I didn't find too much. I didn't search hard I admit, but still. Our google ads rapport us something. Not enough yet however, we only earned 4.5$ in the last 2 months, and we have to wait until we got 100$ before we get payed.
Anyways, I'm glad you're back DS.

Well,I found out about PT a lot sooner than you "published" it. And I think that we should pay you to play your game(a dolar or something,so if you have 1000 users you get 1000 $ a month),but then I am not sure if you can do that because of Nintendo... So maybe you should make it so that we need to click 5 banners every month.

Welcome back DS! It's felt like forever since you've last been here. Karr is gone, luckily, you can believe us...I have a test. I have spelled Karr twice on here without it being all capitals. If he was around, he would sense that his name has been typed wrong, and would take his lovely time to point it out.

I thought we were just going to rent one dedicated server to start. That would "only" cost us €50 a month, but if you're actually going to buy the servers... Last I heard, the engine will be designed to run on all 3 major OS's if possible, I know it'll be made on Windows, but tested for Mac and Linux as well. Buying the servers themselves came about as a decision for a few reasons; physical access to the servers, flexibility, and generally fewer places to get ripped off with **fine print** webhosting. There will ideally be 2 servers, one for the game, and one for the website (yes they will be integrated as much as possible to maximize efficiency). And you probably know how much servers cost :\ I doubt we'll need the raw power that some sites need that host game demos and movies (like.. multiTB HD and several hundred GB bandwitdh a day), but something hefty may be required, we'll see how it goes. how much mb does a mmorpg take up? mabye i could host it? oh and can i please help with it? Honestly, even if you could host it I doubt we'd let you, although if you have a serious offer to make I'll hear you out on PM or something. If you want to help, check the various forum sections here to see what needs completion. @shadolf: I havn't checked up on PT's completion level since I came back yesterday, how's it looking? ~DS

Ah, I'm glad to hear that it's going to be linux compatible. I really don't want to switch over to Windows again for just one game. Or use an emulator or virtual PC or any of those things. I like the idea of integrating the site, but isn't a whole server for that a little too much? I don't know how it's going to be of course, but still... And yeah, servers are expensive, really expensive. It's only a one time cost, but then you've got your connection too... I really couldn't afford even one. I'm not Shadolf of course, but for the completion level, I think most sprites are done, some maps, most trainers, storyline's quite finished, so I'd say at least 70%, without scripting or programming. shane: You can't just host a MMORPG. You need a gameserver to run, and therefore you need a dedicated server. You can't just host it like websites.
