I'm so terrible at setting up wiki software I usually have other people do it for me. The only problem is the fact that many wikis (like ours) have some customisation to them and explaining would probably be a pain (can't speak for FMY, he's way too nice and patient ). You'll need your own hosting for starts.

There are some places that will host your wiki for you.. a quick google for it bring sup www.wikidot.com/Hosting means you need to pay two people: one for a server on which to put the wiki, and one for the domain so that people can get to it without using an IP address. Wikis (well, MediaWiki definitely) also need MySQL which sends the price of the server up (or hosting, like matt said). You're looking at a few dollars to register then name and maybe $40 or so for a hosting deal. You register them by the year.

Woow, that wikidot looks good. If a simple wiki is all you want, I'd surely try it out.
If you want to host the wiki yourself, however, things are like Bonzai said. I could offer you hosting, but I don't really see why you wouldn't use wikidot. It really looks good!

Nope, wikidot is free. You just have to enter you deisred wiki-name in the box on the front page and then create a new account. I think that's all.
If you don't like it there feel free to come back for hosting, but try it out first.

I don't think you'll be able to, since they were made by different companies. It's still a wiki though, so don't worry about it.
