[J][X] Troubleshooting the Latest Demo

Some people have been having trouble with the demo, so here is a good place to list some tips.

The demo opens then closes straight away.
This means that an error is happening. On Windows, you won't be able to see it unless you open jepe.windows.bat from the Run program; Mac/Unix users open it from the Terminal/Console anyway.
A common error is something like "java.lang.NoClassDefFound". This means that your version of Java either can't see or can't open the files. Type "java -version" to verify you have Java 1.5 or more, if not, download it.
If that's not the error, please post it here.

The screen flashes while I walk.
This is common on slower CPUs, and should be sorted out when we start using graphics-card acceleration.

After I press Start, it crashes.
This means there's something wrong with either the first map or one of the maps adjoining it. Change the <startwith> map to one far away (swap Maplewood and Rosefield, for instance).

In my computer it won't load.

Well, that's helpful. If you've got a problem, please describe it as much as possible.

We can't find solutions for "It doesn't work" or "It crashes". Tell us what you did exactly before the problem occured.

E.g. I tryed entering a cave but now my player doesn't move anymore. Here's a screenshot .

And then we can say something like:
"Ah indeed, that's a bug, seems like the player is inside a rock. We'll fix it in the next demo"

If you can't start the demo at all, please tell us what you did when you tryed to start it and what happened EXACTLY. Please tell us what your OS is too, and maybe even a little more about your PC (like it's CPU, amount of RAM, etc). The more information we get, the better.

I just singed up and I don't know how to play could u please reply sooner

Also I don't know how to Start the Demo so if You could help that would be great

Look up, where it says 'Click here for the latest demo'. Click there. Instructions are in the ReeadMe file for your system (which I'm guessing is Windows).
