For people who are interested (or who care, take your pick), I would like to point out that I am going to create a fan-based pokemon game as well. For those of you who are sweating in your seats and are thinking of competition for Pokemon Treasures, I would like to point three things out. #1. As I do not have the proper software, I cannot begin construction of my game(s) yet, and therefore it is going to take a while for me to create it. #2. As this game is also free and is fanbased, I do not wish to put down Pokemon Treasures as being not as good as my game (my game may possibly have more Pokemon, but that doesn't mean that it will be any better). #3. Why think about competition in the first place? Since this is fan-based, its not like my game(s) will put Pokemon treasures off of the market! So now that that has been taken care of, I might as well let you guys in about my game. This game takes place in the Niiro (japanese for red) region, either in the south east or the northwest to Kanto/Hoenn. The Niiro region is a place in which one can find only the toughest of challenges, and is home to two Pokemon leagues (the Master's triumph and the Elite four). As a trainer, you can start (of course) with three pokemon, and begin your journey like everyone else. But confronting you (depending on which game) is the everpressent Teams Lava and Glacier (also called teams Pyro and Arctic). Although both have different goals, both teams mean certain doom for the earth's climate (similar to Ruby/Sapphire, but let me get to the point), and it is up to you to stop them. In Pokemon Volcano, Team Lava's goal is to make the planet a hothouse world, in which tropical islands, resorts and spas, and volcanic dead zones make volcanic pokemon the number one group on the planet. In order to do this, they require the pokemon Volcanadon (or Vulcanodawn, still deciding), a legendary pokemon that is said to have brought heat to the earth's core. In Pokemon Glacier, Team Glacier's goal is to expand the earth's ice caps, and turn the planet into an ice age, in which gigantic glaciers, ski resorts, and below zero temperatures make the planet the number one place for Ice Pokemon. Like Team Lava, they require a legendary Pokemon (Glaciogren, or Glaciowren). Glaciogren, according to legend, was said to have brought the Ice age to the world, and was defeated by Volcanodon in a battle to conquer the earth. As it is, these are just two of the 200+ Pokemon that are included in my game. I was hoping that the staff (when Pokemon Treasures is finished, of course) would allow me to use some of Pokemon Treasures' Pokemon in my game, seeing as they were so cool.
I am open for comments. If you guys were interested in my beginning pokemon, here are some examples: 001-Vython(Vine+Python) 004-Smokasaur(Smoke+Dinosaur) 007-Salanewt(Name needs work)

For those of you who also wish to know, I currently do have over 200 Pokemon for this game. What is so amazing is that I made the majority of them up in almost a single day (I'm like that; I'm a Pokemon genius). Although some of these Pokemon are found in the original games (including Diamond and Pearl), all of the other ones are original. I even made evolutions for some of the Pokemon found in Diamond and Pearl that didn't have any, or didn't have all yet (For example: Spiritot evolves into Spiritomb, Pachirisu evolves into Squirrivolt, and Floatzel evolves into Raftzel). I was even hoping to add some of Pokemon Treasures' Pokemon in my current Pokedex (for those who did not see my previously bigger discussion), as long as the staff allows me, of course. If you wish for more information, start posting comments about my game and I will. For those who can stay long enough, I can even send in a peice of my Pokemon listings for you guys.

One last thing: For those of you who wish to help, I could really use some software for this game. Basically, I need game creating software like RPG maker XP, or Game Maker, or something that's at least freeware. Because I do not have this software, I am restricted to only making sprites (and Pokedex's for websites), and the occasional sound or two. Other than that, I'm stuck. I will appreciate everyone's help into making this possible. If anyone wishes to donate software, please let me know.
Thanks

In case anybody is interested (so far, three days and only one comment from another user), I have just recieved a real breakthrough for my game. I now have the right software needed to create a good 2-d game (Game Editor, the easiest 2d software for beginners!). So far, I have a large portion of my maps done, but sadly I hit a roadblock (personal parent issues). If you guys want to help, I will accept all that I can. I really would like help on the following:
-Miniature sprites for Pokemon -Sound software that distorts and creates sounds for cries -Ideas for Pokemon designs (specifically for a legendary Pokemon that can distort dimensions)
I will accept any help that I can, even from the staff. Thanks

I now have the right software needed to create a good 2-d game (Game Editor, the easiest 2d software for beginners!). Easy != good. You're going to have to put a lot of work into a game to make it worth playing. Would you care to show a couple of maps just so we can see what you think the game should look like?

As far as maps are considered, I don't have any towns mapped out yet, as Game editor does everything on its server, and has no separate files to speak of. I also don't know how to insert images from my computer to this forum. Could someone help me out with that?

One thing I can do though is give you an example of what exactly will happen in the game, or at least the basic stuff that I plan to do (I will keep the majority of my game a surprise until it's playable, but I can give some insight as to what I am thinking of).
-Pokemon Volcano has the legendary Pokemon Volcanodon, and has dragon Pokemon like Rayquaza, Lugia, and many others. -Pokemon Glacier has the legendary Pokemon Glaciogren, and has Bird Pokemon like Zapdos, Ho-oh, and many others. -When you beat the Elite four, you can go to a next-door region that has Pokemon from Johto, Kanto, and Hoenn, so that you can complete your national Pokedex! -I plan on hooking the two games together (don't know how yet) so that you can trade Pokemon from server to server. -Both games have legendaries only found in that game, and unique to that game (Other than Volcanodon and Glaciogren, who are still just as unique). -To be announced: Two special Pokemon will appear when you have almost completed the game: for Volcano, a pokemon that can control dimensional gateways; for Glacier, a pokemon that is the brother of Jirachi, and can use the power of the earth as its weapon!
These are some of the many things I intend to add to my game.

Also, my game is going to have some new and cool moves that are specifically unique to the Pokemon who use them. Here are two examples: #1: Ice Age Tundra-A one hit KO move in which the Pokemon sends out a huge blizzard that speedily forms a glacier. (Power: one hit KO Accuracy: 70) This is the one hit KO move that you can find on Glaciogren. #2: Reign of Fire-A one hit KO move in which the Pokemon calls upon all of the volcanoes in the world to send forth their fire and destroy the opponent's pokemon. (Power: one hit KO Accuracy: 60)

Does anyone have any useful Ideas on creating sounds for cries? All I can really get is this one software that has virtually no saving system, so all I can do when a sound is distorted is record it with a microphone, which is actually pretty tough considering that every time I put the microphone up next to my speakers to record the sounds better, all I get is that one loud screeching sound! That smarts!

Look for Audacity. Another tip is, either mute the speakers or don't put the mic near them (muting is best) - the sound is feedback, which means that the sound going into the mic comes out of the speakers and back into the mic, round and round getting louder each time. Also try to make sure the recording doesn't clip. This means that, if a sound gets too loud for the microphone to handle, it distorts into white noise and you get a horrible crackly sound. I can't remember if Audacity has record levels, but usually you have a lot of green, a little bit of yellow and one red. Red means it clipped, yellow is just loud and is ok.

Thanks. By the way, how do you make it so that you can show images on this forum? I try to upload an image, but I can't figure out how. How do I do it?

Where are you uploading the image? You need something like imageshack.us or whatever. After that, it's . Example with my avatar: It's uploaded at jepe.ptreasures.net/news/BonzaiRob.gif (it's my news posting icon). So i put [ img ]http://jepe.ptreasures.net/news/BonzaiRob.gif[ /img] and get . Bear in mind that it can't be a page with the image on, it must be the image itself. Rght-click on the image if it's on a page and find soemthing like View Image. You'll know you've found it when it has a png, jpg or gif extension (bmps won't work as they are stupid).

Thanks. However, this is not something I have on a website. This is something from a paint file, and I guess I cannot upload that like the way you have just suggested. What do I do?

Go to imageshack.us, sign up for an account, and uplaod to your heart's content. They'll have information for it there. You need to put the images on internet servers rather than your own computer, and that's what uploading means.

Seeing as this is a thread about my game, how about I let you guys on some basic insight about some of my pokemon! Here are some sample bug-types: -Slithorm (slither-worm): A small worm-like Pokemon that uses six tiny legs to propell itself. -Crawlsect (crawl-insect): A waist-size bug that uses four long legs to crawl around, but has two tiny forlimbs that have little use. -Mantititan (Mantis-Titan): A mantis Pokemon that uses its huge forlimbs to crush prey. It will follow missed prey without stopping.
Here are some sample bird-types: -Falcair (falcon-air): Its primary feathers have a gold color, making them the most popular choice for a first pokemon capture. -Stratawk (stratosphere-Hawk): Its feathers are one molecule away from being pure gold. This makes a single feather a prime object in a bird watcher's collecton. -Oxyeagle (oxygen-eagle): It can fly as fly as the mesosphere. It has been known to be sighted in the jet stream next to 747s.
Here are some sample metal-types: -Knifate (knife-fate): Originally thought to be a ceremonial aztec blade, scientists were surprised when they saw the sword's jewelpeice rear up and attack. -Bladoom (blade-doom): The terrifying result of four knifate fusing together, it can grasp and stab its prey using its four razor-sharp "fingers." -Swordeath (sword-death): When three bladoom fuse together, this reaper of metal is the terrifying result. It can levitate off of the ground so that it can use all three "limbs" as means of butchery.
These are samples of the +200 pokemon that are to come! (Notice!: I do not take kindly to people who use my ideas. Feel free to comment, or base pokemon like these, but please do not copy this information! I will accept all comments; I am trying to get an outside opinion).

If anybody is curious about what exactly does these starter Pokemon evolve to, here are images for their next stage of evolution. They are respectively Cobravine (cobra-vine), Ignitodon (ignite-don[latin/greek for tooth]), and Lochomander (Loch[lake in celtic]-salamander) If you guys think those are cool, wait till you see what's coming next!

Here is the moment that you all have been waiting for; the day that I show off my legendary Pokemon, Glaceogren and Volcanodon! See what you make of them; the sprites are fresh from construction! My first inspiration for Glaceogren was Kyogre's fins (I originally thought that Kyogre could fly!). Other than that, Glaceogren is original, as you can see with the spikes, claws, colors and patterns. My first inspiration for Volcanodon was the dinosaur Vulcanodon (truly existing), even though it was a sauropod. How do you guys like it?

uh your pokemon need some work. first off you realize they should be 64x64 pixels or 80x80 pixels at most, right? second they need shaded the look flat. and some of them need smoothed out. also they all should be facing the left side. but they are good ideas.

Thanks. These are just prototypes, however. I plan on doing more to them when my game gets started up a little more. Keep your eyes peeled for a demo version sometime in the next two or three months or so!

Actually, it's better to consider them as premature Pokemon Artwork.

Here are some official sprites for my game (these three are legendaries or rares, whichever one you think works best). The ancestor of Latios and Latias. Said to be the ancient guardian of the wind. The demon of the Fire swamps. It is said that if you are wounded in the middle of the wilderness, it will come and spell out your doom. A creature of great size and strength. It is said that native africans tell tales of this creature roaming the jungles of the congo. It uses its horns and frill for defense. These are fully completed sprites. Please comment on them. I would like an outside opinion.
