Okay, now I was about to make a template for linking to Serebii's movedex when I thought- Why don't we try using 4th gen battle mechanics? A bunch of our moves (Pincer Claw and the Sp Atk up two move come to mind) have been replaced by identical fourth gen moves, plus there's a significant update to the system with the physical special split that would work well in a game that really only started after 4th gen was released.
How much of an effect would this have on programming? As far as organisation, it's only one more variable in the move stats to worry about, and possible retooling of Pokemon's stats and movesets.
Thoughts?

A lot -_- Well.. I guess it depends how much you want to change at once. A hybrid game between two gens might work and it might not, but since D/P are in pseudo-3D it means a lot of extra work for the coders. Not to mention me and FMY won't be playing it till July at the earliest. Just changing the moves won't be very much work, but the rest would be.

Indeed, Bonzai's completely right. Changing the gameplay is a lot of work, and we won't be doing that, but the moves could be changed if you want.

I was thinking JUST battle mechanics. Not maps or anything, just how battles work.

Well, in that case, we can do that.
