This thread is for those who would like to help with dex data for Pokemon, like Poryhedron if he wishes. Discussion is allowed in here. Pory, if you cannot post in here, please PM me so I can allow you too.

Testing...can I post? /added later/ Apparently so! Now, a question...since I've been invited here to help with dex data. Your post listing requirements for info simply says that dex info must be "2-3 sentences giving some flavor text about your Pokémon." The paragraph you are currently reading, which serves to make a point about aforementioned guideline, contains precisely two sentences, this sentence being the first of the two. Note that, for only two sentences, this is a paragraph of some not-inconsiderable length and takes up a fair amount of space on the screen; imagine how much of a GBA screen it would take up. This one's two sentences, too. See the difference? At Pokémon Factory we set a more precise guideline for dex info, six lines of 34 characters each, because we want to make sure the dex info will look good in the space on the screen. Are there any sort of guidelines I'd want to follow here, beyond "two to three sentences"?

Well, I don't really think it matters, since our game is not going to be for the game boy. I think we'll even take a rsolution of 640x480 or even bigger. Maybe we could say the maximum amount of signs is 255 however, just for the space it takes. PS: The link to us at PF isn't working anymore. We changed from domain name some time ago. The site is now here: ptreasures.net

Actually, our screen is precisely a gameboy advance screen, size doubled. I mean resolution 2x. Essentially this is the same size.
Now, our format of Pokedex I'm currently unsure of, but I'm sure it's either RS style, or FRLG style x2 (which works to the same pretty much) I'll dig up KARR's Pokedex images he made.

Well, it could always be a bit longer, but the game screen will always remain the same size. It's always good to keep consistent lengths anyways, so we don't have more data on one than others. Old length of double that is what we go for.

Okay, then...I guess I'll just use PF's guideline. That means I'll be posting dex info that fits into six lines, each of which are roughly 34 characters long. You can afford to play fast and loose with this guideline because 34 is the number of capital W's that fit in one line of a Ruby/Sapphire dex, so 34 characters that aren't all W's probably won't fill the space right to the end (and Nintendo's Ruby/Sapphire dexes didn't typically fill the space either.)
I'll start with the earliest post on this board: Brearl and Bronarl. This was challenging because, not only were the provided dexes pretty short, they also didn't have a lot to say that I could stretch out easily. For Brearl, I stretched everything I could, and for Bronarl I took a good look at the sprite and added some extra data that I hope fits the pokémon's concept. How do these look?
BREARL produces a single, beautiful pearl once every year. People come from all over the world to the beaches where these POKéMON are seen, hoping for a chance to collect the famous high-quality pearls.
BRONARL's large body and stubby legs make it unable to move fast to catch prey. Because of this, it must rely on its unusually long neck, which it snaps forward to catch small POKéMON unaware.

I...no, I can't. There's literally nothing to work with. Pretty much all you've provided is game data. You have to remember that, in the Pokémon world, these are not just pixels with stats; they are living, breathing wild animals. Speak to me of their eating habits, their daily life, the friends and enemies they make in their forest homes, something other than how they fare in trainer battles. Okay, next species from this forum is Harpey...and it's another one with literally not the slightest attempt at dex data Honestly, what do you people expect me to work with? Well, its special ability and the topic title of its original post help a little...all right, how's this look? HARPEY are feminine predators who live and reproduce by mating with, and then devouring, males of other species. They continue to breed, despite worldwide revulsion, by mastering the art of seduction.

Okay...Could you spice up Elkaline's, while I think up a basic for Dynamoose?

The problem with Harpey is that it was created recently, and not too much was done yet. Elkaline was sorta recent too.
Creators, throw all you can think of for your Pokemon into here. Give alot to work with.

Okie dokie: Elkaline: Electric/Ground elk that has cable-like antlers. These antlers conduct electricity, and act as lightningrods. Because of the ground type, they are completely immune to electricity.
Dynamoose: IS basically an Elkaline with more Ground type attributes. Its ability to create earthquakes and thunder are devastating to some trainers, and research facilities. Dynamoose are capable of creating 10 Richter-Scale Earthquakes(IE it ranks a 10 on the Richter Scale) on a daily basis.

Okay, I've hammered out a couple different versions of Elkaline's dex. See which one you like more; I suppose the other might serve as a base for Dynamoose's dex.
If an ELKALINE lowers its head toward you, beware. This is a warning that it is about to charge. This POKéMON's charges are especially dangerous because of the electricity that constantly runs through its antlers.
During lightning storms, ELKALINE seeks out clearings to expose its antlers to the sky. The antlers act as lightning rods, drawing the electricity of the storm into them to fuel this POKéMON's THUNDERSHOCKS.
By the way, if you missed it, I edited my previous post to add a dex for Harpey.

I like the second version, but that's me.
Doctor Sparkzz, which one do you like?

The topic "men eater" is a metaphor to show the superiority that women have over men and I didn't intend it to be taken literally. The dex data for Harpey seems alittle extreme, while I like the idea about it actually eats up male pokemon, it might appear both disgusting and disturbing for younger kids like Matt and BBoy.
I want the dex data for harpy to center around the way that she seduces other pokemon. You can mention about her feminine appearance and her tempting singing etc.

FK or Cuddles, which one do you like better...?
FK, you did design Elkaline and Dynamoose, right?

I am so staying out of the gender wars discussion. Okay, here's another try at Harpey, and folks, this is exactly why I want you to at least write something about what these pokémon are like so I know what to aim for.
The beautifully plumed HARPEY is highly skilled at seducing males of any species. Most male POKéMON become smitten after a single touch of a HARPEY's soft feathers or a brief echo of her musical voice.

All right, next pokémon on the forum is Gashper, and its evolved form Sinciser. This one has excellent dex info; all I had to do was pare it down to fit in a Ruby/Sapphire-sized pokédex.
It is said that, when a POKéMON is about to die, GASHPER will appear to guide it to the afterlife. This POKéMON's innocent appearance makes it difficult to scare away intruders in its graveyard home.
SINCISER cares for little save the thrill of combat. It charges into battle head-on, ignoring the foe's attacks in its rush to strike with lethal force. Even loyal SINCISER might ignore an order to stand down.
