I didn't think this should be posted in Stats, so I put it here.
I think we need new names for Waters 1-3 egg groups. I'll compiled a description to help us name them.
Water 1- Land Dwelling water types, water related Pokemon and Water types that fit no where else (Due to one or more Pokemon in the line)
Water 2- Fishlike pokemon without things like legs. If a member in the group has some other characteristic, it goes in other groups too (Octillery, Gyarados)
Water 3- Shells, hard bodies, jellyfish and fossils (I know there's a word for this one.
Also on the topic of water 3, I think the fossil Pokemon in the group should still have other egg groups. Cradily should also be plany, Armaldo should also be bug. And I really don't think Flygon should only be in the bug group.
I believe Grass, Indeterminate and Ground should be named Plant (different from the type), Amorphous (A ring to it) and Field (Differ from type ground)

I've always gone by Plant, Field, and Amorphous. Water 3- Mollusk? Echinoderm? I had a brain fart. I know there is a word for that!

The thing that ruins it is the fact that tentacool/cruel are in it.

Water 1- Lake? (Though many of them don't usually swim..Name from PF)
Water 2- Fish? (ehhh)
Water 3- Hm..I don't know a good term for all of them
Humanshape- Humanoid
Anyone else agree to adding egg groups to Armaldo, Cradily and Flygon lines?

Ground is already called Field, so it makes sense. Plant is good too. But I think Intermediate should stay the same. For the waters:
Water 1 - Water(It should just stay water) Water 2 - Fish Water 3 - I have no idea. They're all too different.
And Flygon should also be in the dragon egg group. Even though they were based completely off bugs, they're still dragons.

You could just use synonyms of water...
Water Group 1: Marine Water Group 2: Hydro Water Group 3: Aqua

Well, the point of new names is to classify them. I think Lake works well for 1, or Water's-Edge, pond or water-related (Or just Water XD)
Water 2 needs a name like fish.
Water 3 I just don't know.

"Invertebrate"... Good one. I should remember it for PF. Yeah, Lake. Although some of the Water 1 pokes don't swim, I do think they would lurk near a watery spot...
Water1 - Lake Water 2- Ocean (since it seems to me all the pokémon in it live in the depths of the sea... correct me if I'm wrong) Water 3- Invertebrate Um yeah, just a suggestion...
And I like Plant, Field, and Amorphous very much too. I hate it how they use Type-names for Egg groups. For that same matter, we could do the Insect egg-group instead of Bug. I don't have a real problem with the name "Humanshape" though...

That was just an idea for human shape. And just so you know, I hit myself quite hard on the head for Ocean and Invertebrate. I knew the words, just didn't remember.
lol, spoon. Is that a common phrase? Also, Insect won't work, as many aren't insects.
Isn't there a term for bugs in general? Err...arthropods?

bah, just call it bug. There's really no harm in having a breeding group named after a type. Every single bug pokemon belongs in this group anyways.

Bugs are a subspecies of insects. Americans generalised it to bugs as a common term, but all bugs are insects (and there fore invertebrates, but never mind that now).
Spoon isn't really common, but it works. Means someone who misses the obvious in a dumb way, or something similar.

See Bonzai's post The Dragon egg-group could just as well be called Draconic. Cause, seriously, would you consider Ekans and Arbok to be dragons? At least 'Draconic' hints at the fact that all of the pokémon in the egg-group somewhat look like a dragon.

In our science things, Insects are generalised as the bugs with six legs. Others have their own classifications.
Bug as a name is fine. Draconic sounds cool.

It seems like they're using bugs as a synonym for arthropods. Remember, any animal without a spine = invertebrate, so that's insects, arthropods, crustacea, corals, arachnids, molluscs/bivalves, onychophora(worms), myriapoda(millepedes/centipedes) and amoebic lifeforms. Arthropods are anything with jointed limbs: insects, crustacea, arachnids, myriapoda. Insects usually have wings, blah blah blah. You get the gist of it.
Invertebrates would be best for the water classification since only fish and mammals that live underwater have spines. Corsola is a good example, it's a coral Pokémon.

Water 1 could be Amphibious perhaps?
Water 2 - Submarine? Heh, kinda ruined by the real-world use of the word.
If you rename Water 1 and 2, perhaps the miscellaneous Water 3 could just be called Water.
