No tail glow? *exlodes* That ruins the whole idea of that tutor! Well, now we need attacks for those two slots there. The rest seem good.

If we need more attacks anywhere there: Icicle Spear Ice Ball Sonicboom Gust Featherdance Swift Flatter Okay, that's my ideas for now!

Post by mattgcn on Jan 29, 2005 21:04:19 GMT
Flatter's a TM, Swift's already there, Charm does the same thing as Featherdance, and the former is there. Sonicboom is crap, Gust is basic..
Icicle Spear Ice Ball
Only those two have a chance. Ice ball perhaps as an Ice punch of sorts, Icicle spear..meh.
Rembmer, we've already overdone it with these. With TM's, we have 145 moves to learn. We don't need to give EVERY move.
Damn, maybe some of these should be one time use. Or up to 3.

I think you should just consider all moves as if they were move tutors, and make every pokemon's compatibility relative to all moves.
Then you can just add or remove tutors and/or TMs from the world whenever you want.
Having fixed TMs and tutors is okay for a fixed game, but for an online game you should have better flexibility. You don't have to make a carbon copy of the real game's structure.

Only problem- That's alot of compatability list. 501 pokemon by 500+ moves. Plus, if we want to work in Global trades, we'd need to work it in for other games Pokemon and @_@

Only problem- That's alot of compatability list. 501 pokemon by 500+ moves. Plus, if we want to work in Global trades, we'd need to work it in for other games Pokemon and @_@ If I remember correctly, there are 354 moves - I do not know how many you plan to add, but I don't think it would exceed 500. Anyway, it IS a problem, but on the other hand, it's not as complicated as it seems. For example, if a pokemon learns fire blast, it only makes sense for it to learn flamethrower and ember as well, so you could make several groups of moves that "go together". Many moves are to be learned by almost every pokemon, like double team, substitute, return, hidden power, etc. Inside an evolutionary line, the moves learned will be almost identical. You can also give all moves of their type to each pokemon and make adjustments by substracting moves. Anyway, yeah, it's probably still too much job, so personally, what I would do is that I would make about 20-30 TMs (the gym leaders' in particular, and any other essential TM) and 20-30 move tutors before launching the game, and then while people play it, I would add/remove/change TMs and move tutors and update compatibility when needed. That way I don't have to worry about having a complete list at the beginning. I would also make TMs grow on trees like berries but that's just me 8)

Perhaps..
We just need to work out what he have at the moment with the starter TM's and MT's, then we'll move on out from there.

Since attract isn't a TM....
It replaces Soul Taker as an MT. It shall be buyable. Alot.
Discuss old TM's.
Discuss Stat raisers that have the "Leave blank" message next to them.

I don't see why you put tri attack there. Usually only the pokemon with 2 or more heads learn it, porygon and fearrow are the only exceptions.
Cross Chop? Mach Punch? Tail Glow? Again with the "oooo I can get some useful/ previously pokemon exclusive moves of such such types without breeding wooo". Unless the movetutors rarely appears and when they appear they only teach the move once, I would suggest against the idea of having such moves to be taught by tutors.

Tail Glow, we REALLY need to replace with a more broad move like Swords Dance, for the Sp Atk sowrds dance clone. Tail Glow fits the stat raising powers, but not the availability.
Mach Punch will be multiuse, but only twice a year, or maybe just on your birthday. Plus it will cost.
Cross Chop...I think you should get this only once a year. It should still be broad to learn though.
Also, we still need to think of a move that lowers Sp Atk by two, to fit the tutor.
ZOMG! I just realised that Shadow Punch isn't on there..
Feh, the only ones who need it get it by egg move. We could always have more people learn it.

Everything looks good to me. But is Rock Smash not an HM anymore?

No, Rock Smash is useless as an HM. Instead it's a cheap MT.
