As most of you know I got the Colosseum soundtrack earlier, ripped kindly by Scrib216, but we realized that there were a few missing tracks still. Since nobody else has stepped up with ripping or recording capability, I'm taking responsibility to fill in what I can.
Currently the list of missing tunes comes to;
-Battle Mode Select Screen -Mt. Battle -Mt. Battle Break Room -Link Battle RS Music x3 (?) (reg battle, gym and champ) -Stadium Intro Music x4 (round 1, round 2, semi-final, final)
(can someone confirm the number of remixed RS tunes? I only know the default link battle tune myself, anyone played further than me?)
I went over to Radioshack last week and got a few audio accessories and cables so I'd be able to rip stuff better, and tried preliminary recording this weekend. The results were twofold; while my theory of music extraction were correct, there's several tweaks I need to screw around with on my soundcard so the ripped music doesn't sound like crap.
Anyway it's progressing steadily. Once the recording issue is resolved I just need to save the music as proper mp3 with fades and volume adjustments. Expect finished results (hopefully) within the next two weeks.
p.s. matt, you'll need to renumber your folder and zip of files because this is going to screw up the previous numbering system of the soundtrack files.
The current list of tracks comes to; 1-Title Theme 2-Opening Demo 3-Main Menu *4-Battle Mode Screen 5-Wes Steals te Snag Machine 6-Outskirt Stand 7-First Battle 8-World Map 9-Normal Battle 10-Phenac City 11-Pokemon Center 12-Es Cade's Theme *12a-Evice Theme 13-Trainer's School 14-Cipher Syndicate's Theme 15-Pyrite Town 16-Pyrite Building 17-Cipher Peon Battle 18-Miror B's Retro Groove 19-Mirakle B's Imitation Groove 20-Agate Village 21-Relic Forest *21a-Relic River *22-Mt Battle *23-Mt Battle Break Room 24-Cipher Admin Battle 25-SemiFinal Battle 26-The Under 27-Shadow Pokemon Lab *27a-Lab Alarm 28-Realgam Tower 29-Nascour's Theme *30-Battle Cheers 31-Final Battle 32-Ending Theme 33-Snagem Hideout *34-Worlds Collide Link Battle 1 *35-Stadium Intro Round 1 *36-Stadium Intro Round 2 *37-Stadium Intro Semi Final *38-Stadium Intro Final *39-PDA ringtones x10 (?)
More to come. The ones with *'s are currently being ripped but need volumetric adjustment and other audio tweaks.

I wouldn't be able to do such a thing...
Er-hem, I know we have the Admin battle, Admin encounter and Miror B battle in midi... never heard the rest (the mp3's we've got). But good we're getting most Colosseum music, because I really like it.
If only there was something good that could convert mp3 into midi. Humph.
Oh, yeah, aren't we missing some of the Colosseum 'jingles' like evolution, purification and healing? They are quite good. Or how about the train sound for the train in the game? Take a think about it.

That seems about it. But can you rip two more things for me too? They may be useful somewhere..: -Cheers (Nascour battle bascially was just that) -Alarm (Shadow Lab)
We can stick with RS soundeffects so we don't have to rip all the C ones. Same with cries.
If we can't rip the GSC train theme, it could be used in our game.
Delta, Can do. It won't take long, just send me the numbers on a Notepad file to make my life easier.
PS- KARR, the midis. Really. Suck. Stick with the MP3's, they sound better. Notice how I replaced the "condemned" midis with their MP3 counterparts? Yeah.
Also, I noticed both the MP3 and midis of the Six Island tune sound different (IE worse) than the cartridge...How odd.

I'll add the cheers sfx to the list, shouldn't be too hard. However, I've already beaten the game and the alarm at the Shadow Lab doesn't reactivate for me, any ideas if you can trigger it again? I really don't feel like starting a new game on the disc... ----- @karr: I tried looking for a wav -> midi music converter last year when I was thinking the same thing as what you have in mind now, and let me break it to you quite bluntly; it can't be done (to any degree of actual quality). The only high quality program out there that remotely resembles your dream is this. However, note the bottom comment that explains just what I said... Q: Can AmazingMIDI convert EXACTLY a WAV file into a MIDI file in such a way that the MIDI file sounds like the original WAV file?
A: Unfortunately, the answer is NO. The WAV file is a recording of any sound (including speech) and MIDI file is sequence of notes (similar to musical score). Therefore it is not possible to reproduce original WAV sound on a MIDI file EXACTLY. Please consider AmazingMIDI as an assistant of transcription. Trust me, I tried experimenting with it a lot, but any music score with multiple tracks really becomes jumbled up as a reverse engineered midi, it's just too complex a change to accurately calculate. ----- That said, I'm resuming my recording attempts again tonight, I've got a few more tweaks figured out on this infernal soundcard >.< ~DS

Oh well, someone can try for the alarm later. Your files turn out as WAVs? Convert them to MP3, unless they lose a bunch of quality.

Do I really need to get the Nec World Simulator or the IBM White to convert wav into midi? Yes. I could have them make many versions so I can choose which one is the best. Now... where did I put my Hacker's Guide?
No, I'm not going to do that. Maybe I'll try a bit more from scratch, who knows?
Good idea with the cheers. I just love the paper people who have robotic arms.

I got two more. Evice's Second theme (The "Evil" one you get when he "transforms" into the non-cheery guy) and Relic Forests' river sound effects. The other Relic Forest can be renamed Relic Forest shrine.

Yay! Evice! Boinga-boinga! River effects... good. Maybe for some waterfalls? Loudness depending on closeness...

Yeah, I like that idea. We could use it in Hopho Waterfalls, over top of Clubbys tune.
EDIT- I got two more. The little SFX blurb on the subway train, and Miror. B's exit theme. You'll have to reset your game to get the latter, so don't worry too much. You get it in Pyrite Building when Miror B. leavesif you wanna try for it.

Ergh, can you give me a list of what you need from me? There seems to be a lot of chatter going on about stuff that's confusing me as to its relevancy. Editing up one of your posts or something with everything that you want me to rip would be nice.

Wondering... do we have the P*DA jingles? I think if we end up using some phone thing, we could use them. Oh, yes, and how about the door sliding sounds? Hmm. That would bring some different-ness.

Do you have the tune for a battle with Miror B? Man, I love that. Also, someone said the theme for Togepi Town needed to be more happy. There are a few tunes from Colosseum that could be used for it...

For our places, for the majority, we're using our tunes. Togepi Town can just have one instrument change and an increased tempo, if you could do that on MP3's.

Unexpected delay in the recording process; apparently one of my adapters is malfunctioning so I need to order another part from RadioShack, it should be here in another week or so. One of the audio channels isn't being transferred properly, so matt, the graininess you were hearing was a channel distortion since only the left was operational, and it was overwriting the right with static.

The one on the server? I'll look into that.
BTW, this isn't really the place for that post, I'd suggest posting in music review.
