Okay so mattgcn has asked me to do some remixes of Pokémon music, so I obliged. I've done some work on Burned Tower... there's more to do I'd say, I just thought I should post this as its my first work... just to show what I'm doing. www.freewebs.com/crystal-skies/PT_musics/CF_burnedtower.midIts surprisingly hard to make things sound un-GameBoyish when using Midi. I'll still work on it. But not right now, its late

Finally, something that doesn't make my ears bleed! Beats that old highpitched tune anyday!
And, I'll get you SS Anne on Wednesday. Think you cantry Dragon's Den?

Just now I've done more work on Burned Tower, and saved as Midi. I'll upload it in a second, and you can see which you prefer. Although, all I've done is made it longer... I'll have a go at Dragon's Den. You mean SS Aqua, right? (Its what you said to me before...) The new Burned Tower: www.freewebs.com/crystal-skies/PT_musics/CF_burnedtower_v2.mid

Yeah, that's what I meant. SS Aqua. The SS Anne tune is remade in FRLG anyways!
EDIT: Wow! I love the new glocky bit during the new second half of Burned tower! This is definetely part of my midi collection! You should submit it at vgmusic!

Heh, thanks. Y'know, I started Midi work at school to begin with... part of my GCSE course... but then I used it to make tunes for a project I'm working on (slowly) in RM2K. Never thought of submitting to VGMusic... I've started work on Dragon's Den. The original is just painful. But with this I think I'm gonna mess around with some more panning... to boggle your mind I figure Dragon's Den would be the place to have mind boggling music. EDIT: And here is Dragon's Den: www.freewebs.com/crystal-skies/PT_musics/CF_dragonsden.midI also renamed the topic to "GameBoy Remixes" as it seems that its not just about Burned Tower any more. I'm doing these quicker than I expected... it helps that GameBoy music apparently only uses four channels. But I really should do some revision or coursework so the next won't be until tomorrow I'm afraid. EDIT(again): Also, if you use these midis, be sure to loop it (er... the program that you're implementing this with does allow looping options, right?) from the end to 0:00:8.00 on both of them.

Hate to steal your thunder but if I can be a bit of an arse, can you do me a favour and remix them a bit more? Like I threw this together in a few minutes so it's not that great but it gives you an idea about how much you can screw around with the files, don't be afraid to go beyond 4 tracks, the more the better quality usually. Btw I'm not involved in music much asides from collection right now, I used to remix but I've got too much other stuff to do now. ~DS

Sure can, not a problem.
I've gone beyond four channels on both of those, but only for panning purposes. I'll mix them up some more... tomorrow though.

Someone do me a favour and fix the Tin Tower theme as well, one of my fav tunes and the only tune out there is the crap midi. Personal plea ^^;
Original tunes are welcome if you people are up to the challenge as well, RDSC and CF.

Oh, and I got an idea for SS Aqua if you can. For the frontal tune..Er the melody of it, try making it into a jazz piano or a trumpet, and the bass tune into a trombone. Is that possible?

Another personal plea: the Team Rocket theme... It sounds not bad (the tune itself), but it's quality is just horrid. It can be used somewhere else (like a town or what) though.

I sure can get some jazziness into the SS Aqua theme... once you send me the original Tin Tower I can do, yes. And Team Rocket theme... although, I have to prioritize. Game tunes come before personal pleas I know I said I'd do more mixing on them today, but some stuff came up... I'll get to it. Don't worry. I'll be more than happy to work on original tunes also

Wow, the Burned Tower sounds awesome. The SS Aqua doesn't sound too bad as it is, IMO TR needs WAY more work.

I dont think those are the finished tunes for TR and SS Aqua, Matt is just giving the GB version to Cosmic falcon so he can work on them

Okay, here's my game plan over the next days or weeks or however long this takes me...
Burned Tower: More drum work, and more deviation from the melody... maybe a couple more instruments, possibly synth pads.
Dragon's Den: More panning and phasing, definitely. Maybe a wider range of instruments...
Cherrygrove: Hmm... not sure. The tune sounds like something a Steel Band would play, but Midi only has one steel pan instrument... which I think I'll use. Have some woodwind for the other parts.
Tin Tower: I'm thinking strings and ensemble, lots of mystical feel so probably some more use of panning and maybe phasing.
SS Aqua: Jazz band... trumpets, saxes, trombone... the lot ;D Possibly swing time, possibly some sort of 'impro' soloing somewhere.
Team Rocket: Brass instruments... maybe some synth, elec. piano or something... lead Trumpet or Trombone.
I'll be working on those but... I've got a few exams coming up. A music one this Saturday actually...
