what if there were items that you can get and can give you an advantage in the game, but you'd get disqualified if you you used them in a trainer battle?
simalair to using a pokeball in a trainer battle, your not allowed to use these items because they'll give you an unfair advantage (technically, you can use them in wild battles and Trainer battles, but if used in a Trainer Battle, you atuomatically lose)
well, here are some of these "illegal items"
Firecracker - a small explosive that can be thrown at the opponent's pokemon (this item causes 50 HP fire-type damage to the opponent's pokemon)
Snowball - a ball of hardend snow that can be thrown at the opponent's pokemon (this item causes 50 HP ice-type damage to the opponent's pokemon)
Buzzer - a small electric device that can be thrown at the opponent's pokemon (this item causes 50 HP electric-type damage to the opponent's pokemon)
just where do you get these illegal items... well in some corner of town, there's a shady guy will sell you some of these for 100 poke-dollars, but it would be wise not to use these because they're banned by the police in the game

Hey that's a cool idea. It would giove a whole new perspective to the game.

While not a bad idea at all, who would exactly attempt to use these items in a Trainer battle? The consequences seem too extreme and teeter the fun aspect from the items. Instead of getting banned for using them in Trainer battles, why not simply have the culprit pay a fine of money after the battle? $500 or something like that.

but you can use them in unofficial battles (against burglars ^^) or against wild ones too.

Ooh, sounds awesome! I hope we use these! I just know that Psychopig will buy 99 firecrackers at a time, and throw them at EVERYTHING (ie- find wild Magikarps just to throw firecrackers)

Can't we get rid of the firecracker? It just seems like it would blow the Pokemon to pieces.

well... that's pretty much the idea on why they're technically illegal to use in battle, they can be pretty dangerous to the opponents pokemon
plus I also have another side-effect for these items if used on wild pokemon, they have a chance of running away from the battle, it can be useful when you only have a weak pokemon and you come across a much stronger foe

it can also lower your chance of not being able to run!

This just seems so... unpokemonish. It makes it sound like Final Fantasy and Golden Sun, which are great games, but very different from Pokemon.

well in my opinion it will complicate the game the game suppose to be a light game and to think when to use those items and how just complicate it. if you want to run from a battle you have an escape rope.

So would such a minor thing as 3 items make the whole game far too complicated? no... and the escape rope doesn't help you escape from a battle... it's for getting out of an area -_-;

Yes. After reading that, we MUST have brick. Firecracker's good too. Snowball, Zapper, and Water Balloon pale in comparison to the almighty power of Brick.

But water balloon would be key for use on Fire Pokemon

Especially my brick. ;D I don't quite get the buzzer, though. What is it?
BTW, Water Ballon would be Water (obviously) and Brick... Rock, or Ground...
